I saw this when it came out in 2006.
I also read the book like most of the world.
Yet, I didn’t really remember much of the story. There’s a reason for that – it’s dull. And preposterous (and that’s saying something if I think a story is preposterous).
Tom Hanks is compelling, of course. Ian McKellen is compelling, of course. But are we sure Ron Howard is a good director? He’s not a bad director. His movies are usually solid. But is he a good director?
