Only Human

This is the third book in the “Themis Files” series.

I occasionally wonder what a book I would write would be like. I like to pretend it would be thoughtful and intricate, with a dense mythology and tremendous world building.

I fear it would actually be like this series (and this book in particular): overly earnest, poorly written, and a little too in love with itself.

This is not a good series. The concept is pretty dumb and the execution is clumsy. Also, the “files” structure wears thin half-way through book two. By the third book it’s straight annoying, and it also makes no sense. Why are all these private conversations recorded?

Anyway. I read the series and now I’m done with it. And if I do end up writing a book, I need to remember it shouldn’t be like this one.
