National Treasure

I thought I had seen this movie, but I guess I saw the second one.
This is an odd film. They clearly spent a lot of money on sets, and the story has a mythology that’s intriguing, but the execution doesn’t rise to the level of the investment.
I don’t understand why they half-assed it with the acting (it’s pretty bad). Maybe they tried to split the difference between a kid-friendly movie and complexity? But there’s an odd amount of gunfire and a ham-handed attempt at a romance, so it’s not really a kids film.
Also, the score is atrocious. I wonder what this movie would feel like if the music enhanced the narrative rather than kicked it in the shins.
