Mad Max: Fury Road

I saw “Fury Road” years back but I only remembered the feeling it created. The details were hazy.

There’s a reason for that. The details (while captivating) are secondary to the film’s adrenaline. This thing just goes and it keeps going and it does not stop until it’s done. I’ve never seen anything like it.

It’s insane in a good way. So much energy and chaos. Such bizarre imagery.

I’ve heard George Miller’s films described as fever dreams. That’s on the money. I don’t have much interest in the other “Mad Max” films–that universe isn’t where I want to invest my time–but “Fury Road” film is a classic I’ll revisit.

Speaking of George Miller Fever Dreams: I love that the guy behind the “Mad Max” franchise is also one of the creative forces behind the “Babe” movies. Miller didn’t direct the first “Babe,” which is probably why it’s a straightforward–and delightful–film. Miller directed “Babe: Pig in the City,” and that thing is an acid trip. I didn’t enjoy “Pig in the City,” but I’m glad I had the experience because now I have a shorthand for anything that mixes talking animals with existential dread.
