I always enjoy Ridley Scott movies. He’s a confident and skilled director.
I’m glad this story didn’t get caught in jingoistic nonsense. It doesn’t glorify battle. It–I think–tries to show how horrible and useless conflict is.
It’s also interesting to see all the people in this cast. Some had small roles but went on to bigger things (Tom Hardy). Some had big roles and faded (Josh Hartnett).
My only quibble is that the music was reminiscent of “Gladiator,” which was an odd choice since that’s one of Scott’s biggest films.
